Handbook released

IMPHAL, Mar 16: A basic handbook titled 'Human Rights Advocate and Investigating Officers' compiled by Centre for Social Development with consultation with the office of the acting chairperson Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) was released yesterday at Manipur Press Club.
Speaking on the occasion Khaidem Mani, acting chairperson, MHRC said the people of the state need to read and understand the basic rights in view of the numerous incidence of Human Rights violations and crime against women happening in the state.
He added that the commission will continue the demand and work to have acts like AFSPA, which violates Human Rights, repealed from the state.
He also assured all possible assistance from the commission to the handful of scholars who have come out to do research work in Human Rights and related issues.
The handbook released programme was also attended by U Nabakishore, secretary, Centre for Social Development and W Basantakumar, law officer, MHRC.
