Police fine SOP violators

IMPHAL, Feb 8
The Police Department continued its crack down on violators of guidelines and restrictions issued by the State Government and the State Disaster Management Authority in connection with COVID-19 pandemic, including failure to wear mask in public places, failure to maintain social distancing in public places, spitting in public places, etc. to prevent the spread of the virus.
During today's drive, 243 violators were detained and released later after warning and a sum of Rs 33, 800/- was collected as fine, said a statement issued by Manipur Police.
The Police Department warned that those who violate the guidelines and restrictions shall be dealt with strong legal actions under the National Disaster Management Act, 2005 and other appropriate laws.
