Review Governor’s address: CPI
IMPHAL, Feb 4 : The Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India (MSC-CPI) has categorically stated that the Governor Dr Najma Heptulla address to the 12th Assembly session needs a review to ascertain whether the State's activities in 2020 was 'really' satisfying.
As the State is surrounded by issues, protests and reports of ill-fated incidents today, emphasis must be placed on reviewing the Governor's speech, CPI said in a statement issued today.
The Left party also asserted that schools and colleges in Assam, which are far more populous than Manipur, have been opened since a month back while the same measure has been taken up in the State just recently.
The Government also failed to establish a Covid hospital despite assurance and spent the State's revenue 'unnecessarily' on hiring school compounds, it claimed.
Asking how much of CM's COVID-19 Relief Fund was spent in helping the poor, the CPI asserted that the State denizens were almost left to defend on their own.
Though there might be a record of distributing lakhs of face masks to the civilians, people don't receive such assistance in reality, the Left party alleged.
The statement also expressed disappointment with the Government for talking big on giving loan, not subsidy or financial assistance, in selecting only 3799 women when there are lakhs of vendors on the street.
Taking a dig at the Government on law and order conditions in Manipur, the communist party recalled the recent incident of snatching gold and money in the very heart of Imphal city and the problems being faced by drivers on the National Highways. It asked whether the State security forces were recruited to protect looters.
On the other hand, the Left party applauded the Government for planning to set up a 100 MW Solar Power Plant at Jiribam, which they said will solve the energy and environment related problems in the State if implemented transparently.
