Manipur suffer 7-wicket loss to Uttarakhand

IMPHAL, Feb 23 : Uttarakhand handed Manipur second defeat in the Plate Group competition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at SSN College Ground today as the former cruise to a 7 wicket win.
Manipur could muster only 148 runs for 9 in the stipulated 50 overs after being asked to bat first and Uttarakhand chased the down the target in just 23.1 overs at the cost of three wickets.
Manipur's innings got off to a poor start as Narsingh Yadav and Al Bashid went off on meagre scores within 6 overs and were reduced to 54 for 3 in 20.5 overs as Langlonyamba departed on 17 runs. Jayanta Sagatpam then topscored with 32 runs off 68 balls with 4 fours and L Kishan Singh added 29 runs to help Manipur cross the 100 run mark today. Uttarakhand's Mayank Mishra (2/18), Akash Madhwal (2/27) and Iqbal Abdulla (2/32) all bowled perfectly to keep Manipur's strike in check.
In reply, Jay Bista scored an impressive 61-ball 71 and Kamal Singh scored 41 to put Uttarakhand in a sniffing distance of a win and it were Dikshanshu Negi 17 and Saurabh Rawat 14 who finished off the chase at 152 for three with 161 balls left to play.
Though the match ended in Uttarakhand's favour, L Kishan Singha was the pick of Manipuri bowlers as he snared 2 wickets for 33 runs in 5 overs.
Manipur will play Sikkim next on February 25 at IC-Gurunanak College Ground.
