DESAM condemns disengagement order
IMPHAL, Feb 10: Democratic Students Alliance Manipur (DESAM) has strongly condemned the disengagement order of teachers and staff of Residential School in Chingkhei Ching in Imphal East district.
The order was issued on January 30 by Khumanthem Diana, DC and Chairmperson of the District Board of Education, Imphal East.
DESAM investigated the matter and it came to light that the reason for disengagement is that the teachers were selected through an adhoc committee led by the then MLA as the chairman and an open DPC was not held for the same.
The student union continued that the teachers of all other residential schools are selected through the same process initially and later a DPC is conducted and only the eligible ones are selected. However for Imphal East the DPC was not conducted.
But in 2017 after all the preparation was done to conduct the DPC, an order from the Additional State Project Director stopped it.
DESAM maintained that the teachers have been striving earnestly for the welfare of the students over the past 9 years in a school which is not even fenced properly and do not have a warden as well.
The disengagement order seemed to be driven by a political conspiracy and is an insult to the teachers, the statement added.
DESAM appealed to revoke the order and provide service protection to the teachers by conducting the DPC at the earliest.
The student body also urged the Education Minister to regularize the teachers of residential schools in various districts and Kasturba Balika Vidyalayas.
