IGP Zone 1 Manipur Police appeals not to malign Manipur Police on social media platforms

IMPHAL, Dec 9: K Jayenta IGP Zone 1 Manipur Police today appealed to all not to malign or defame Manipur Police through social media platform as police never works with any political party nor acts under the direction of the political leaders.
The above statement was made during a media briefing held today at SP Imphal West conference hall in presence of DIG Range III, DIG Range II and SPs and Additional SPs of Imphal West, Thoubal and Tengnoupal district
He stated in view of the prevailing situation of law and order in the State with particular reference to recent incidents related to deadly ambush at Beihang in which commanding officer of Assam Rifle, his wife, son and four others were killed, killing of labourer at the work site, threats to the government official, social and political workers, businessmen, traders through telephonic calls and planting of bomb at the house/ shops, residence of Government officials, social and political workers and businessmen for extortion demand and so on, the Manipur Police Department is exploring to mobilize available resources to apprehend the culprits involved to bring justice, to save the life and property of general public and maintain proper law and order.
Referring to drives, detections and seizure of huge quantity of drugs from Border town Moreh by a combined team of Tengnoupal district police and Assam Rifles, he stated that the accused who is identified as Chinese national is still at large and necessary steps have been taken up for the arrest.
He continued that as a result of counter insurgency and drive against the unlawful outfits, police were able to detect the concealment of huge cache of arms and ammunition belonging to underground outfit from Imphal East.
Manipur Police have recovered and defused numbers of hand grenades placed at the residence of some businessmen, public and government employees by underground outfit in connection with extortion cases, he added.
He maintained that investigation of all cases is on full swing and involved persons will be arrested soon.
The IGP expressed discontentment that despite the sincere and untiring efforts taken up by the police for the safety and maintenance of law and order, police are defamed, maligned through social media platforms alleging that Police are acting at the behest of political leaders which is totally wrong and clarified that Police never works under the behest of political.
Lastly he cautioned the general public not to be carried away by the contents published/ posted through social media platform and sought cooperation and support from all to help the Police to carry out their activities effectively and smoothly.
