Ukhrul, Dec 4 : Shillong Lajong FC (SLFC) emerged the champions of the 29th Shirui Lily cup, National level football tournament-2021 organised by Ukhrul District Sport Association (UDSA) at Ukhrul Headquarters ground, Wino Bazar.
Shillong Lajong FC lifted the coveted Shirui Lily Cup beating KLASA, Keinou 5-3 on penalties after both teams drew a blank in regulation time of the keenly contested final match today.
Shillong Lajong FC eventually walked away Rs 1,75,000 richer along with a running trophy while runners up KLASA FC got a cash prize of Rs 1, 25,000 along with a trophy donated by Pam Raleng and Christopher Kasar in memory of their late family members.
Among the individual honours, SLFC's Gladdy N Kharmuli was named best player and Rajat Paul Lyndoh of SLFC was named best goal keeper.
Gladdy N Kharmuli and Tremiki of SLFA and KLASA's Lunmilen Haokip shared best scorer accolade of the tournament with 3 goals in their names while L Priyobarta was feted with the best referee award.
UDSA also felicitated Padma Shree Guru Reuben Mashangva and cyclist Khariksing Adonis Tangpu who recently brought home medals from the National MTB championship-2021 .
The valedictory function of the tournament was graced by Dr Manik Shaiza as the chief guest.
