Junior Fencing Nationals : Manipur emerge team runners-up with 6 medals

IMPHAL, Dec 28 : Manipur fencing team amassed 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals to settle for the runners-up title at the 29th Junior National Fencing Championship 2021-22 held in Sonipat, Haryana since December 25 concluded today.
The last day of the championship saw the State Girls' foil team consisting of Mina Naorem, Laishram Khusboorani, Waikhom Sonia Devi and Dayarani N adding a gold medal to State's tally.
Earlier, Mina Naorem had won individual foil gold as Khusboorani contended with a silver medal.
Laishram Abi who won a silver medal yesterday in the individual sabre event, went on to win a bronze medal for Manipur in the team sabre event along with Leimapokpam Ambika, Phadom Baby and Muruga Lakshmi.
The other bronze medal was grabbed by the State boys' foil team composed of Kangabam Abhinash, Khumallambam Yaiphaba, Sanasam Hemash and Chingtham Ronel Singh.
