IMPHAL, Dec 28 : Special Judge NIA Manipur has reserved the bail order of Narengbam Samarjit till December 31.
Narengbam Samarjit (48), former chairman of Salai Group of Companies and self proclaimed 'External Affairs and Defence Minister of Manipur State Council' was arrested from Delhi Airport on March 25 on his return from London and was brought to Imphal on March 29 in connection with the case registered against him and Yambem Biren, s/o (late) Thambalngou of Tera Khongsangbi Leimaram Leikai by NIA in connection with announcement of separation of Manipur from India and formation of Manipur State Council on October 29, 2019.
Narengbam Samarjit and Yambem Biren had announced the independence of Manipur on October 29 and were seeking asylum in the United Kingdom.
It is noteworthy to remember that the same Court had rejected the bail application of Narengbam Samarjit on September 22.
