U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy Manipur take 14 run lead after Rojit dismantle Nagaland batters

IMPHAL, Dec 27 : Manipur took a 14 run lead on Day 1 of the fifth and penultimate plate group match of the ongoing U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy at Railway Stadium, Bhubaneswar.
Manipur won the toss and elected to bat first today but bundled out for just 50 runs for 9 in 22.3 overs as Nagaland bowlers Raja Swankar ran riot across the batting line up and finished with an impressive 7 wicket haul for 20 runs in 11.3 overs.
Neizekho picked the other two wickets in this innings in which Suresh Singh top-scored with 15 runs followed by Ulenyai and Dominic who scored 13 runs each.
The Nagaland innings was almost of the similar fashion as they skittled for a paltry 80 runs total in 43 overs.
Rojit, who shone with a 6 wicket haul (1 in first innings and 5 in second innings) in the previous tie against Sikkim, produced another stellar bowling performance to send packing five crucial batters and triggered the collapse of Nagaland's innings.
Aziz Mirza and Manipur skipper Jotin Pheiroijam also scalped two wickets each and Dominic claimed one in this innings which saw Bamyibe Npanme scoring the highest 18 runs off 43 balls.
Trailing by 30 runs, Manipur commenced their second innings but faltered yet again and lost 4 wickets for 44 runs at stumps of Day 1. Ulenyai contributed a crucial 31 runs (57 balls) before he succumbed to Nagaland's Neizekho (2/15).
Mughavi Sumi also dismissed RK Herachandra and Somokanta on ducks to put some restraint over Manipur.
