IMPHAL, Dec 25 (PMC) : The office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur today held a meet-up session of the State election icons with the winners of the online contest at Hotel Classic, Imphal.
Joint CEO (II), Manipur, Md S Daulat Khan expressed that such activities like ‘Meet The Icon’ is part of a larger campaign to spread messages related to the electoral processes and the importance of citizens' participation in the electoral journey. He also reiterated that social media is one of the most effective form of media for the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) campaign.
The Joint CEO also stated that ‘Meet the Icon’ online contest will continue with other State icons and appealed to all to participate in such activities. He further highlighted the various apps such as Voter Helpline App, c-Vigil Mobile App, Person with Disabilities App, Voter Turnout App, Booth App among others.
The online contest titled ‘Meet the Icon’ was conducted on social media platforms where participants were asked to share their views on the question ‘What does being a responsible voter mean to you?’, he said.
Among hundreds of responses, six winners were selected. There were two more winners who were adjudged as the CEO’s pick.
During today’s session, the winners interacted with the State Election Icon AJ Maisnam. He has been featured extensively in multi- media publicity campaigns of the Office of the CEO, Manipur.
The meet-up session was also broadcast live on social media pages of the State election office. An election trivia quiz was also conducted where the winners won CEO merchandise and other collectibles.
One of the winners, Lien Min Lal from Churachand-pur, shared his winning entry - Being a responsible voter means being aware of our rights, to make people understand their rights and participate in the festival of democracy with great interest to decide the future of our State and Country.
Joint CEO, Manipur, Ramananda Nongmeikapam, State Nodal Officer, Media W Phajatombi Devi and officials concerned were also present.
