MSFDS mourns
MPHAL, Dec 21 : The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) has mourned the demise of Wahengbam Somoraj, a dedicated film actor who shot into fame for his role in 35mm celluloid film "Cheina" in 2003.
He was 48 and survived by his wife.
A condolence message of MSFDS said that Wahengbam Somoraj, a resident of Tera Sapam Leirak, breathed his last on December 20. In his demise, Manipuri cinema has lost a talented and extremely dedicated film actor, said MSFDS and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
National Film awardee film-maker Oken Amak-cham recalled Somoraj as a soft spoken, dedicated and aspiring actor. As a mark of respect to the departed actor, a candlelight memorial was observed at the Manipuri Cinema Memorial at MSFDS complex.
