IMPHAL, Dec 22 All Manipur VDF Welfare Association has urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh to meet the demands put forth by the Association before implementation of election code of conduct.
In a press briefing held today, O Bijoy, president All Manipur VDF Welfare Association stated that on March 6 during the 12th Rising Day Celebration of VDF, Chief Minister N Biren Singh who had attended the ceremony as chief guest had given assurance of fulfilling their demands and directed them to forward a written submission of their demands. Following this, a memorandum was submitted on April 21, he added.
He expressed disappointment with the fact that the matter had not yet been brought before the State Cabinet.
Elaborating on the unfair treatment meted out to VDF personnel, he called it unfortunate that the police department employs VDF personnel for the same duties as police constables but without the same remuneration. Stating that their demands are justifiable, O Bijoy appealed to the Government to fulfil their demands before the implementation of Code of Conduct.
He further expressed discontent over the indifference attitude of the authorities though the VDF personnel have been delivering their duties diligently.
