Elect more women representatives in Assembly election, says Prof Binota Meinam

IMPHAL, Nov 8: A one day State level conference on Capacity Building of Youths was held at Ima Liwa Lairembi Multi Purpose hall, Chanam Pukhri Mapal today.
The conference was organised by Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) in association with Manipur Apex Handloom and Handicrafts Artisan & Co- operative Society Ltd and Women for Social Change (WSC) under the aegis of National Commission for Women.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of MSCW, Professor Binota Meinam said that the conference has been organised with an aim to enhance the skills of the grown up girls so that they will be able to lead an independent life.
She appealed to all the women not to consider themselves inferior and to acknowledge their strengths which are capable of accomplishing anything.
Emphasizing that women play a major role for the upliftment of the traditions and culture of the society, she urged all to elect women representatives in the upcoming State Legislative Assembly election as the issues of the women will be raised in the Assembly by the women representatives only.
She further stressed on the need for collective efforts to uplift the status of women and urged all to help in increasing the representation of women.
Vice president of Manipur Apex Handloom and Handicrafts Artisan & Co- operative Society Ltd, S Bubhon said that the conference has been held with the objective of empowering the women and to upgrade their status with special focus on the youths.
In today's conference, many resource persons spoke on different topics.
