CM hosts Ching-Tam Ningol Chakkouba

IMPHAL, Nov 3 : For the first time, Chief Minister N Biren Singh arranged a traditional feast for the Ningols of Manipur (Ching-Tam Ningol Chakkouba) at the CM Bungalow, today.
Education Minister S Rajen, PHE Minister Losii Dikho, MLAs-K Robindro, Dr S Ranjan, H Dingo and men and women belonging to different communities took part in the Ching-Tam Ningol Chakkouba.
By the sideline of the feast, the Chief Minister stated that the different communities of Manipur have been residing in the State  together harmoniously since time immemorial.
Saying that he is happy to see people of different communities attending the feast in their traditional attire, N Biren maintained that Manipur is indeed a colourful society of multiple ethnic communities.
The Chief Minister further stated that Ningol  Chakkouba is a festival of the Meitei/Meetei community celebrated on the second lunar day of the Manipuri calendar’s Hiyangei month.
On the joyous day of Ningol Chakkouba, married women come to their parental home with a festive mood to reunite with family members over a feast, N Biren said.
The Chief Minister also expressed his delight in holding the feast.
To preserve and showcase the rich culture, tradition, art and crafts of various tribes of Manipur,  Chief Minister N Biren Singh virtually inaugurated 29 tribal museums at 10 districts during a solemn function held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, today.
At the function, the Chief Minister said that the Government decided to construct 32 tribal museums in the State under the aegis of Manipur State Archaeology, Department of Art & Culture.
He urged all to eschew the habit of looking down on smaller communities.
It may be mentioned that these museums were constructed by the Deputy Commissioners concerned in consultation with the respective tribal leaders.
The museums which were inaugurated today are museums for Anal, Chothe, Lamkang, Monsang, Moyon, Tarao, Aimol, Maring, Mate, Chiru, Kharam, Koireng, Thadou, Purum, Gangte, Paite, Zou, Kom, Simte, Vaiphei, Thangal, Mao, Maram, Inpui, Zeme, Hmar, Tangkhul, Rongmei and Kabui.
PHE Minister Losii Dikho, Education Minister S Rajen, Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly K Robindro, Chairman of Manipur Building and Others Construction Worker’s Board H Dingo also attended the inaugural function among others.
