IMPHAL, Nov 29: All Manipur Contractor Association Forum extended monetary aid of Rs 50,000 (Rupees fifty thousand) to the kin of the labourer, Md Ryajul Islam (25 yrs) who was shot dead by unidentified miscreants on November 9 at Laiphrakpam under Wangoi Police station.
It may be noted that Md Ryajul Islam who hails from Assam was engaged in the construction work of bailey bridge situated between Lilong Leishangthem and Laiphrakpam.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today, convenor of the Forum, Thangjam Somorendro said that the monetary aid of Rs 50,000 has been given to the family of the deceased to provide some help at this time of grief and distress.
He further informed that the Chief Engineer of Manipur Rural Road Development Agency which is a contract department has also donated Rs one lakh to the family members of the deceased. He also earnestly appealed to all concerned to refrain from killing non local labourers who come to the State for work as the labourers are brought to the State since there are not enough labourers who are trained for such construction works.
During the press conference, Special Contractor, Md Salam who is involved in the construction of bailey bridge expressed discontent that no one has claimed responsibility of the killing of the non local labourer and the State Government is unable to make any progress in the investigation and appealed to all concerned not to repeat such incidents in future. He also donated Rs 50,000 to the family of the deceased labourer.
