IMPHAL, Nov 28: The 63rd foundation day of Cultural Forum, Manipur was celebrated today at the auditorium hall of JN Manipur Dance Academy.
As a part of the celebration, a felicitation and award presentation ceremony was held where senior life members, new patron members, donors of Cultural Forum Manipur were honoured including Sahitya Akademi awardees and prize winners.
In today's event, awards in the field of literature, culture and other activities for the year 2020 were also presented. The award carries a shawl, citation and cash prize.
Apart from the award presentation, four books namely 'Lairaba Sageigi Wa' (novel) written by Waikhom Ibotombi Mangang, 'Chingu Thangjing gi Masaikonda' ( a poetry book) by Sanglakpam Achou Sharma, 'Nawa Ruppal' and 'Sekmaida Pokpa Siba' by Yaiskul Khwairakpam and the 197th - 202nd edition of Ritu Journal were released today.
The celebration was graced by MLA of Langthabal AC, Karam Shyam, Vice Chancellor, Manipur University, Professor Naorem Lokendro Singh, Secretary, Sahitya Akademi New Delhi, Dr K Sreenivasarao and president of Cultural Forum Manipur, Professor Huirem Behari Singh as the presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest, Karam Shyam said that Manipur though a very small state is able to maintain its unique identity among the crores of Indians is due to the numerous contributions made by the artists and writers of the State.
He opined that it is high time that the people of the State acknowledge the valuable contributions of all the artists and writers.
The MLA also lauded the Cultural Forum Manipur for honouring the individuals who have made significant contributions in their respective fields.
