STDCM opposes proposed 72 hrs bandh

IMPHAL, Nov 23 : The Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee of Manipur (STDCM) has clarified that the committee does not endorse the proposed 72 hours general strike called on November 25 called by some organisation.
It is to be noted that World Meetei Council has served an ultimatum to the Government to send the recommendation for inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in the ST list by November 24.
In a statement issued today, STDCM publicity secretary W Ananda Meetei said STDCM has been raising the demand for inclusion of Meitei/Meetei in ST list by staging sit-ins in collaboration with various local clubs.
He said that as STDCM was not apprised beforehand about the decision to call a general strike.
W Ananda appealed to every other organisation or CSO to discuss issues related to ST demand with STDCM before taking any decision.
STDCM also urged the Government to send the recommendation at the earliest.
