'Asufii Talk' continues

SENAPATI, Nov 9: The Research cell of Asufii Christian Institute (ACI) on Tuesday organised the second "Asufii Talk: A rendezvous with the author".
It was attended by Dr Veio Pou, the author of “Waiting for the Dust to Settle”.
At the very outset of the programme, Dr Pou gave his appreciation on the Series ‘Asufii Talk’ saying that it is a wonderful platform in a higher education institution like ACI and that it could develop into something bigger.
The author described his work ‘Waiting for the Dust to Settle’ in three words, ‘Writing- Community-Memory’.
Stating that the novel is his subjective understanding of culture as literature from the North East is rooted in culture, which is based mainly on oral tradition. The young novelist said that oral tradition without written documents could lose its value with time.
Through the novel the author brought back the memories of ‘Operation Blue Bird’ 1987. Dr Pou also encouraged the students to cultivate the habit of writing, as written documents become ambassadors to far off lands especially in a culture where oral tradition is losing lustre in modernity.
The 90-minute session was moderated by Dr Ch Kaya, convener of the Research Cell.
