Mera Chaoren Houba wishes

IMPHAL, Oct 6: Governor La Ganesan and Chief Minister led in wishing the people of the State on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba which falls on October 7.
In a message issued today, the Governor said Mera Chaoren Houba is a festival for preserving and promoting unity and integrity amongst all the communities settled in the State and is celebrated on the advent of the Manipuri month of 'Mera' (September-October).
He added that the festival has withstood the test of time and has become a rallying point for the State's unity and integrity. The Governor also wished the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Navratri.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in his message, wished the people of the State on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba and said it is an ancient religious festival dedicated to Lainingthou Sanamahi and Leimarel Sidabi and it brings back the age-old tradition of love, brotherhood and solidarity between the hill and the valley in Manipur.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Y Khemchand Singh said the festival of Mera Chaoren Houba is celebrated by Meeteis and other indigenous tribal communities to seek blessing for good health and prosperity and extended his wishes to all the people of the State.
CAF&PD Minister Th Satyabrata Singh also wished the people of the State on the occasion of Mera Chaoren Houba.
