IMPHAL, Oct 29
The Assam Rifles Inspector General’s Conference 2021 was held at Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles in Laitkor, Shillong on October 29.
The conference was chaired by Lieutenant General PC Nair, AVSM, YSM, Director General of Assam Rifles and was attended by Formation Commanders, Battalion Commanders and Staff Officers of Headquarters DGAR and Formations, said a statement of IGAR(S).
The emphasis of the conference was on drawing lessons from past experience in various fields and improving upon these aspects for better efficiency of the Force; with an overall aim of living up to the bestowed title of ‘Sentinels of the North East’ and the ‘Force that Binds the North East’.
During the conference, the Director General complimented the Formation and Unit Commanders for ensuring peace and tranquillity in their respective area of responsibility and also exhorted them to be ever vigilant on the volatile and dynamic environment under the current scenarios.
He also mentioned that the Assam Rifles has always identified itself with the populace of North East and ensured their security and well being.
As part of the event, a film on the ‘Battle of Imphal’ which highlights the valiant contribution of the Assam Rifles Battalions during the Historic Battle of Imphal in World War II was also released.
It was followed by a cultural programme that brought to forefront the rich cultural diversities of the North East.
