MHRC directs

IMPHAL, Oct 25 : The Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) has taken up a case in connection with the alleged assault on a correspondent of Naharolgi Thoudang yesterday at Heirok Part-I, Bazar Maning Leikai.
The MHRC also directed the Director General of Police and SP Thoubal to submit a status report on the FIR taken up in connection with the case.
The case was taken up by the acting Chairperson of MHRC, Khaidem Mani under Section 12 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 following a formal complaint lodged at the commission by Khoirom Loyalakpa, Editor of Naharolgi Thoudang.
DGP, Manipur and SP Thoubal were directed to submit a status report regarding the alleged assault on the correspondent.
Meanwhile, the All Manipur Bishnupur District Working Journalists' Union (ABDWJU) has strongly condemned the incident.
