IMPHAL, Oct 24
District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Imphal West in collaboration with Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) conducted a legal awareness campaign today by deploying MASLSA's multi utility mobile van.
A press release issued by DLSA has stated that this awareness campaign was carried out as a part of NALSA's legal awareness & outreach campaign under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority.
The programme was flagged off by Kh Nobin Judge High Court of Manipur and executive chairman of MASLSA on October 22 in the presence of A Guneshwar Sharma, District & Sessions Judge and chairman of DLSA, RK Memcha Devi, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East and chairperson DLSA, Ojesh Mutum, member secretary MASLSA, N Lanleima, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East and secretary DLSA, Y Somorjit Singh, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West and S Sadananda, deputy member secretary MASLSA at High Court of Manipur, Judges' Guest House, Khoyathong.
On the second day of the programme today, A Guneshwar Sharma accompanied by Salam Devananda, media coordinator, RK Imoba, remand lawyer, T Kalmark, paralegal among others.
The awareness campaign covered various villages of IW such as Samurou Bazar, Samurou Social Development Club, Samurou Naorem, Wangoi Bazar, Laxmi Bazar, Sekmaijin to name a few.
A total of around 1253 people were educated on availability of free legal aid and services.
