2 more deaths
IMPHAL, Oct 17 : The death toll due to COVID-19 has climbed to 1,897 in the State with the addition of 2 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Notably, both the deceased are from Imphal West which so far has contributed the maximum number of Covid deaths (633) from among the districts.
They were not vaccinated against COVID-19 and 1 of them had co-morbidity.
In terms of positivity rate, the State continue to maintain its momentum of keeping the infection rate below 5 percent for 4 days in a row with the registration of 4.4 percent again on Sunday. Of the 2,347 samples tested in the last 24 hours, the result of 104 returned positive.
Kamjong topped the positivity rate among the districts again as 9 of the 38 samples tested in the period returned Covid positive.
The positivity rate thus registered for the hill district is 23.7.
The new Covid cases of 104 including one CAPF personnel were confirmed at RIMS (2), JNIMS (16) and other testing centres (86).
The new cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (18), Imphal West (58), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (4), Kakching (6), Ukhrul (1), Churachandpur (1), Tengnoupal (1), Senapati (1), Pherzawl (1), Kamjong (9) and Kangpokpi (2).
Today, at least 102 persons were discharged from home isolation (14), RIMS (5), JNIMS (14) and CCCs (69).
With this figure, the cumulative and active Covid cases stand at 1,22,737 and 1,422 respectively while the recovery rate remains at 97.30 percent.
On October 16, 1038 D-type and 199 B-type oxygen cylinders were distributed to health facilities in Manipur and administered 11,848 Covid vaccine doses.
As enumerated by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, COVID-19 beds available at different health care centres are RIMS (general beds 221; ICU/HDU beds 28), JNIMS (general beds 59; ICU/HDU beds 0), Iboyaima Hospital (general beds 25; ICU/HDU beds 5), Jivan Hospital (general beds 20; ICU/HDU beds 5), Shija Hospital (general beds 41; ICU/HDU beds 33) and Raj Medicity (general beds 74; ICU/HDU beds 23).
