Bonus reminder

IMPHAL, Oct 14 : The All Manipur Shops and Establishment Employees Association has appealed to all the employers for payment of annual bonus before the upcoming festivals of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba.
In a statement issued today, the association said that as per the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 or the Wages Code, 2019, every employer in the private sector employing ten or more employees in his shops and establishments including factories, bank, financial institution, insurance company, private hospitals/clinic/nursing home, private educational institution etc. should make payment of the annual bonus to their employees within a period of 8 months from the end of the Accounting year. However, most of the employers usually pay the bonus in the month in which the festivals of Diwali and Ningol Chakkouba fall. As both the festivals fall in the first week of November, the association appealed to all the employers to make the payment before the festival as most of the employees had been affected badly by the COVID-19 pandemic, added the statement.
