Kharkhola can be 'Darjeeling of Manipur', says Kpi MLA

KANGPOKPI, Oct 13: "Kharkhola in Kalapahar can be turned into the ‘Darjeeling of Manipur’ considering the beauty and topographical condition of the area", said Nemcha Kipgen, MLA Kangpokpi AC on Wednesday.
The MLA made the above statement while attending the closing ceremony of Durga Puja Open Football Tournament, 2021 at Upper Kalapahar.
Nemcha Kipgen said, "our Chief Minister during the Go to Hills 2.0 programme has rightly pointed out that without a politically stable Government, developmental projects cannot be accomplished efficiently and thus the public should exercise their right and vote the BJP into absolute majority".
She stated that individual discipline has become more important than ever in the society and this discipline can be achieved in sports. She also appreciated the Gorkha community for their relentless contribution towards a peaceful society and lauded the Upper Kalapahar Gorkha Youth Club for organising the grand sports event during Durga Puja.
Milan Pradhan, former ADC Sadar Hills Member also attended the closing ceremony of Durga Puja Open Football Tournament organized by Upper Kalapahar Gorkha Youth Club. Meanwhile, IT Camp Hengbung lifted the men’s football champion trophy by defeating Leimakhong Gorkha 2-0 with goals from Aseng (45’) and Basant (56’). The Champion team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and the runner up team with Rs 15,000.
In women’s football, IT Camp Hengbung defeated Charhajare Gorkha (3-0). Bandana Gewali of Upper Kalapahar Gorkha Youth Club, Pooja Basnet of Koubru Laikha and Sanjita of Toribari were awarded with Best Keeper, Best Player and Top Scorer award in women’s football while Navin Rana of RFSC, Abinash Gurung of PGYC (A), Nitin Chauhan of Kharkhola, Sonit Thapa of PGYC (A) were awarded Best Player, Best Defence, Best Keeper and Top Scorer award.
