Pre-poll violence condemned
IMPHAL, Oct 13: Yambem Makha Youth Development Committee has strongly condemned the incident of pre-poll violence that occurred on October 11 in Andro A/C.
A press release issued by Yambem Makha Youth Development Committee has categorically stated that there was no instance of gunfire from anybody in former Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar's camp in reference to the incident of 11 October.
Lourembam Sanjoy, intending candidate from Andro A/C and his team ought to be held accountable for all the people who sustained injuries in this bout of violence, the statement added. Further, an appeal was made by Yambem Makha Youth Development Committee to the Government of Manipur to place L Sanjoy and his team under strict supervision while also calling for attention of the village leaders of Andro A/C regarding the use of public property for election purposes without expressed permission.
The statement also questioned why any intending candidate would be forbidden from entering certain localities when choosing a candidate in a free and fair manner is the essence of democracy.
