Songlei Mongbung New Year sports meet kicks off

KANGPOKPI, Jan 5: BJP State Secretary ST Morcha Manipur Pradesh, Tonglen Khongsai inaugurated the 34th Songlei Mongbung New Year Sports meet at the village playground in Konghom area under 19-Lhunjang District Council constituency in Kangpokpi district, today.
Songlei Mongbung village is one of the largest Kuki villages situated in Konghom area along Saparmeina-Saikul road comprising more than 110 households.
Tonglen Khongsai, BJP State Secretary ST Morcha Manipur Pradesh, who is also the Chief of L Louzawl village graced the inaugural ceremony as chief guest and hoisted the flag for the opening ceremony.
Later, he also inspected the march-past contingents along with the organizing committee officials and village chiefs.
Emphasizing the importance of games and sports at village level, Tonglen Khongsai said that grassroots development and discipline in sports, especially among the youth, is necessary for success.
He conveyed his appreciation to all the villagers of Songlei Mongbung, the village authority and Chief for organising the Annual New Year sports meet to promote unity, love and peace.
Tonglen Khongsai, BJP State Secretary ST Morcha Manipur Pradesh also exhorted the people of Songlei Mongbung to be an ambassador of peace and unity, and to be a model village for all the other villages of the area.
