CPI commemorates Statehood Day
IMPHAL, Jan 21
Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India and Wangjing-Tentha Local CPI jointly celebrated the 49th Statehood Day at Tentha Multiplex hall today.
Y Dhananjoy Singh, chairman Control Commission, MSC/CPI, Dr M Nara, National executive member CPI, and L Sotinkumar, State secretary CPI attended the observance as presidium members.
At the event, party workers and sympathisers were appreciated and encouraged.
Veteran CPI leader Dr M Nara recalled the party’s stand and movement it launched and took part in to get Manipur Statehood. He recalled names of leaders and party members who took part in the movement and suffered jail time for Statehood between 1960 and 1972.
He pledged CPI’s support towards the poor and downtrodden.
It may be noted that Manipur was given Statehood on January 21, 1972.
