Poppy plantations destroyed

IMPHAL, Jan 18
As a part of the "War on drugs" campaign, a poppy destruction drive was conducted at New Leikot, Thumbol and Aigejang villages in Aigejang hill range, Kangpokpi district.
The drive was carried out by personnel of Sagolmang police station, Reserve Line Imphal East and Narcotics Cell Imphal East  led by  Manoj Prabhakar M (IPS), officer in charge, Sagolmang police station under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam, SP-Imphal East and  Kh Ravikumar, SDPO-Lamlai, Imphal East, Sagolmang police station.
Around 20 acres of illicit poppy plantation were destroyed during the drive.
An FIR has also been registered in this regard.
The villagers were also detailed about the illegality of poppy cultivation and were advised to cultivate other crops for sustenance.
