Drivers’ Day

IMPHAL, Jan 11: As observed every year, the 32nd Drivers’ Day would be observed on January 14 under the aegis of the All Manipur Road Transport Drivers and Motor Workers Union at its MG Avenue office.
Speaking to media persons ahead of the commemorative function, the union’s general secretary Maimom Anil said that executive members and members of the union would pay homage to 276 departed drivers on January 14.
Anil regretted that they could not invite family members of the deceased drivers and the general public to the commemorative function this year as it would be observed in strict adherence to the COVID-19 SOP. Informing that monetary assistance of Rs 10,000 each had been extended to families of eight expired drivers, Maimom Anil appealed to all the drivers on behalf of the union not to operate any commercial vehicles on January 14.
