Teachers peeved

IMPHAL, Sep 5 : The All Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers' Welfare Association (AMGHSLWA) has stated that the Central and the State Governments have insulted all in the teaching community in Manipur on the auspicious Teacher's Day by not conferring even a single National Teachers' Award this year.
AMGHSLWA, in a statement expressed regret that none of the State teachers has been named for tyhe award this year while teachers of other States take pride on receiving the award.
Many teachers from the State have been receiving the National award continuously since many years, it said while asking whether the State Government had not shortlisted any deserving teacher from the State this year.
It also asked how the Central Government has failed to recommend any of the State teachers in the award list or whether there is a fault on the part of both the State and the Central Governments.
To exclude State teachers from receiving the National award is unreasonable, it said and further asserted that it was an utter disrespect to all the deserving and committed teachers from Manipur.
It may be noted that President Ram Nath Kovind conferred National awards to 47 teachers across the country on the eve of Teachers' Day which was celebrated today.
