Post mortem held
IMPHAL, Sep 6: Postmortem of the Mayang Imphal minor girl who died on September 3 at RIMS was conducted today and the body is yet to be claimed by family members.
The postmortem of the 14-year-old girl was conducted in the presence of a Duty Magistrate with video coverage of the proceedings.
It may be noted that the postmortem was reportedly delayed as family members and the JAC formed in connection with the death of the girl had demanded police to arrest all suspects before conducting the procedure.
The body was kept at RIMS mortuary from September 3 evening after the minor girl succumbed to her injury a day after she was found unconscious at a place at Mayang Imphal. Following the death, many organisations, human rights groups, Meira Paibis, student bodies and local clubs had demanded stringent punishment to all culprits involved.
So far, police have arrested several suspects including Md Arish, the alleged boyfriend of the minor girl. She was reportedly called out of her house on September 1 on the pretext of eloping. She was found unconscious the next morning and rushed to RIMS ICU Ward, where she died on September 3.
