Farm Bills defended
IMPHAL, Sep 25: BJP Manipur Pradesh has rubbished all the statements and comments made by AICC Manipur in-charge Bhakta Charan Das about the three Farm Bills recently passed by the Parliament as falsities, devoid of truth.
Speaking to media persons today, BJP Manipur Pradesh chief spokesman Ch Bijoy said that the comments made by the AICC leader at Imphal were aimed at creating public unrest in the State. He said that the three Farm Bills would liberate the farmers of the country from middlemen and ‘licence raj’.
Bhakta Charan Das’ assertion that farmers and several committees should have been consulted before passing the Bill is simply implausible, Bijoy remarked.
Congress party’s demand to refer the Bills to the Select Committee was an attempt to delay the Bills by two/three years, he said.
The three Bills were opposed by the Congress party because they would be highly beneficial to the country’s farmers. Moreover, the very contents of the Bills were published in Congress party’s manifesto, Bijoy said.
There would still be minimum support price as well as farmers product marketing committee. At the same time, the Bill would enhance farmers’ income, claimed the BJP chief spokesman.
