By-elections

IMPHAL, Sep 25: With the schedule for Bihar Legislative Assembly election announced today, notification of by-election to the State’s vacant Assembly seats may be issued after September 29. A well placed source informed that schedules for by-elections to be held in different States would be announced after a meeting is held between the Election Commission of India and Chief Secretaries and DGPs of the States concerned on September 29.
The vacant Assembly segments of the State which are free from Court cases are Lilong, Wangoi, Wangjing-Tentha, Saitu and Singngat.
Apart from these five Assembly segments, some other vacant Assembly Constituencies may also go to the by-election in case election petitions filed against their former representatives are withdrawn.
