DESAM locks DMCTE Princip
By Our Staff Reporter
IMPHAL, Sep 2: Denouncing appointment of a person who "does not meet the essential qualification" as Principal in-charge of DMCTE (Dhanamanjuri College of Teacher Education), DESAM has locked the Principal's and Administrative office rooms today.
The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) took the step to "save" the institution and register their long-standing demand for appointment of a regular Principal, its secretary general, Leishangthem Lamyanba Meitei said in a statement today.
For more than 14 years, the DMCTE had a Principal in-charge who was "not qualified" to hold the post as per the DMCTE RR 2002 and NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) RR 2006. And, recently a fresh appointment was made and similarly, another "unqualified" person who "doesn't fulfil the required criteria" was made Principal in-charge again, claimed DESAM.
It further alleged that following appointment of guest faculties against the NCTE guidelines in 2017, the DMCTE BEd session 2020-21 was scrapped.
Asserting that such "irregularities" have caused the downfall of the institution, DESAM appealed the Government and Department concerned to take up appropriate measures and remove the "unqualified" Principal in-charge to save the institution. A well qualified Principal and required faculties on regular basis should be appointed at the earliest to effectively run the institution, said DESAM.
