MMWO demands justice
IMPHAL, Sep 19: The Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation (MMWO) has demanded to deliver justice in the dead of Md Manjur Ahamad.
MMWO in a release said, according to his elder brother, Md Manjur Ahamad was arrested by Imphal East Police on March 26, 2019, without any known reason. He was found dead on March 30, 2019 in police custody. Till this date, no one has been arrested in connection with the case.
Late Md Manjur Ahamad was a police constable. The JAC formed in connection with the death of Md Manjur Ahamad along with his family members had a meeting with the Chief Minister, former Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar and other high ranking police officials.
During the meeting, the demands put up by the family members were agreed on in principle, however, none of the demands have been fulfilled till this date, MMWO said.
The family has demanded the State Government to provide the full salary of Md Manjur Ahamed, as a special pay, to the deceased mother until his service is supposed to retire and provide a Government job to the next of his kin.
MMWO, demanding justice for the deceased , has given a deadline of 20 days to the Government to take up some concrete action.
