CPI highlights Irabot’s role in Manipur history
IMPHAL, Sep 19: ‘Irabot Celebration Committee, Manipur has been observing the Jana Neta Irabot remembrance programmes for the whole month of September every year in an aim to produce dedicated, patriotic leaders in the future generations.’
This was stated by CPI State Secretary L Sotinkumar Singh speaking at the 124th birth anniversary celebration function held at Sambrei Makha organised by Irabot Celebration Committee Khundrakpam Local Council CPI.
The function was also attended by party’s veteran comrade Moirangthem Subol Singh and secretariat member Rk Amusana. Local secretary Ph Vogendra Singh, speaking at the function gave a brief account on the connection between the people of Khundrakpam and Jana Neta Irabot.
L Sotinkumar Singh further said if Irabot was not born in Manipur, today’s Manipur might not have existed. Due to the Phundongbam incident of September 21, 1948, the people’s leader Irabot saved the territorial integrity of Manipur. He also saved the language, culture and religion of Manipur. “If the youths follow the footstep of Jana Nata Irabot sincerely by researching on his lives and the role he has played for our motherland, nobody will be able to challenge the integrity of Manipur,” he added.
