MPP office resumes functioning

19: Office of the State's oldest regional party, Manipur Peoples Party
has started functioning normally from September 17 again, as by-polls
for some vacant seats at the Manipur Legislative Assembly approach.
Speaking
during a media interaction programme, the working president of the MPP,
M Amutombi said that the party office has started functioning normally
yet again after restrictions imposed by the Election Commission of India
(ECI) and DC Imphal West was lifted recently.
Saying that the party
will be fielding candidates in upcoming by-polls in the State, Amutombi
said that restriction imposed earlier by Imphal West DC was lifted with a
party led by its interim president, L Krishnadas submitting necessary
documents in addition to the clearance from the ECI stating that the
presidential term of O Jugindro has been expired.
He also said that O Jugindro is not related to MPP anymore.
Maintaining
that many intending candidates have started approaching the party, the
working president also stated that due process have been initiated to
field candidates in the upcoming by-polls and the 2022 MLA election.
The
former president, O Jugindro and the group supporting him have been
expelled by the party's central committee earlier on graft charges, he
said while adding that the party will not be responsible for any
activities undertaken by Jugindro and his aides.
The party is also
prepared to take up legal actions against O Jugindro for indulging in
corrupt activities and misusing his position, he added.
