Pineapples exported
IMPHAL, Aug 28: Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) in association with Dehradun based Clover Organic Private Limited exported one metric ton of organic pineapples to Uttarakhand.
The pineapples were procured from farmers of Bunglon and Khousabung in Churachandpur district as a part of the Government's initiative to ease the suffering of farmers amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has shut all markets in the State.
It may be noted that following the advice of Chief Minister N Biren Singh, MOMA under the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation had also procured pineapples and other perishable vegetables from farmers in Jiribam and some hill districts amid the pandemic recently.
Further, addressing the plight of the organic ginger farmers in Pherzawl district, MOMA has procured 10 metric tonnes of ginger. The gingers will be sold to public and interested firms at a lower price tomorrow at the Sanjenthong organic outlet of the Horticulture and Soil Conservation office tomorrow.
Meanwhile, MOMA is taking up steps to procure Kiwis from farmers of Senapati, said sources.
