DESAM urges

IMPHAL, Aug 21: Claiming that the Education Minister is sitting on the request of the DM College Teacher Education (DMCTE) Principal in-charge to transfer him back to his parent college till today, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has appealed the Minister to grant the request at the earliest to "end the problems in the DMCTE".
Alleging that the present Principal in-charge of the DMCTE is not qualified to hold the post as per the DMCTE RR 2002 and NCTE RR 2006, the student body in an open letter addressed to the Education Minister questioned if the successful implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 is even possible without solving the problems surrounding the DMCTE.
The Principal in-charge was appointed to the post on March 1, 2006 even though he was "not qualified" as per the DMCTE RR 2002 and NCTE RR 2006, claimed DESAM asserting that the Principal in-charge had requested the Director of the Department concerned to send him back to his parent college (NG College) citing personal reasons.
Following the request, the Directorate of University and Higher Education had prepared and submitted the names of five seniormost teachers of the DCMTE for the post of Principal in-charge to the Education Minister on July 8. But no action was taken to appoint a new Principal in-charge, said DESAM.
Further claiming that the Principal in-charge had himself on July 13 again requested the Education Minister to transfer him back to his parent college, DESAM lamented that the Education Minister is yet to act on the request and prepare for appointment of a new Principal in-charge which will "end the controversy and problems" besieging the DMCTE. DESAM appealed the Education Minister to expedite the processes to appoint a regular Principal and appoint a well qualified Principal in-charge in the meantime.
