Lairenjam Meijrao Pradhan clarifies

The Pradhan of Lairenjam Meijrao Gram Panchayat, Tongbram Manglemba Singh has responded to the claims of Young Union Club (YUC) Irom Meijrao with regard to the 'missing culvert', saying that construction of any culvert under 'Construction of Laishram Khong with culvert' is not included in the work estimates and hence no work (on the same) has been taken up yet.
Even though the particular work is named 'Construction of Laishram Khong with culvert', the portion for culvert has not been included in the estimates. As such, no culvert has been constructed over the canal, he clarified.
Further, in connection to the MGNREGS work at Meijrao Nambul Mapal, the Pradhan further stated that the Gram Panchayat (GP) has not yet given its approval for initiating work and hence the work programme has not been displayed (yet) at the work site. However, all preparation has been made for display once the GP gives its approval and work is started, he added.
He also asserted that the GP has been actively issuing instructions to job card holders to follow all COVID SOPs during work implementation.
The Pradhan appealed YUC to directly take up any matter(s) with the Panchayat if it is not satisfied and cautioned that it will seek the support of law if YUC continues to publish any material without cross checking the facts first.
