Manipur Independence Day celebrated far and wide

IMPHAL, Aug 14: The 74th edition of Manipur Independence Day was celebrated extensively in the State, by hoisting flags which represent Manipur in different places, today.

All Club Organisation Association and Meira Paibi Lup (ACOAM-Lup) and Kangleipak Ima Lup (KIL) observed the day simply by paying floral tributes to brave hearts who gave up their lives for Manipur.
The two organisations also wished the people of Manipur on this auspicious occasion.
Students Union of Kangleipak also observed 74th Manipur Independence Day at its office,  today.
The observance commenced with SUK's president hoisting the flag of Kangleipak.
In its statement, the union urged all to do away with the ideas of separatism and work together as one for a better Manipur.
"We are ready to face every challenge that threatens the territorial and emotional integrity of Manipur, " said SUK.
Meanwhile, MMWO's president, Abdullah Phundreimayum urged all to take a pledge to make the state self-reliant in food and economically independent so that real sense of freedom is attained.
Limited resources and food production have forced the erstwhile Nation to depend on mainland India. Above this, disruptions along National Highways and its deplorable condition have been stressed to all since decades, he said while urging all to sort out the root cause make the State a self-reliant as it was before.
Putting forward the drug menace in the State, the president urged the Government to be committed to the fight against the issue and sought harsh punishment to those who are smuggling and peddling such harmful substances.
While urging all communities to be very watchful about the foreign forces trying to create division and spread hatred, he said that only unity amongst all will help usher an independent and equitable society.

Remembering the day where Manipur got her independence from the British, Meetei Council Moreh; All Community Development Organisation Moreh; All Manipur Students' Union, Tengnoupal district committee; Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup and Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup too observed Manipur Independence Day by hoisting a flag printed with Ebudhou Pakhangba symbol at Town Parking, Moreh, today.
Citizens' Club, Soibam Leikai, Khurai Genial Club; Co-Ordinating Body, Khurai; the Patsoi Makha Yaipha Lup (PAMYAL); Manipur Students' Association Delhi (MSAD);  All Jiribam United Clubs' Association (AJUCA); AMOWA Jiribam and International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) also observed the day at their respective offices/areas.
