Court under quarantine

IMPHAL, Jul 31: Two personnel of Narcotices and Affairs of Border have been reported COVID-19 positive yesterday, according to reliable sources.
The two personnel were said to be part of a team which arrested a woman drug peddler. They had directly handled the accused when she was produced before the Court.
After the accused was remanded to judicial custody by a Special Court of ND & PS, Lamphelpat, she was tested for COVID-19 before sending her to jail and the result came out positive.
Soon after hearing the news all the staff of Special Court ND&PS Lamphelpat including Judges and lawyers who were in the Courtroom were made to stay at the Court premises for quarantine. The testing was conducted today.
The counsel who is representing the accused woman has been reportedly tested positive today.
Sources said that all the staff and lawyers who were present at the Court yesterday will stay inside the Court premises for 14 days quarantine.
Registrar General, High Court of Manipur has requested the State Health Department to conduct a COVID-19 test for Special Judge ND&PS and staff.
Disinfection of the Courtroom and its surrounding areas were also carried out by a team of State Disaster Relief Force today morning
Health Minister L Jayanta Kumar had also visited the site to take stock of the situation.
