IMPHAL, Jul 16: Manipur State Council/Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) has urged the Chief Minister to call a Cabinet meeting to discuss the delimitation issue so that it can be tabled during the Assembly session.
According to a statement of MSC/CPI, the Chief Minister had recently said that the Government intends to conduct the delimitation based on a true census report.
MSC/CPI said “if the Chief Minister is true to his words he should call a Cabinet meeting urgently to discuss the matter and after taking a resolution at the Cabinet it can be tabled during the Assembly session.”
The CPI and CPM have filed a PIL at the High Court of Manipur objecting the delimitation based on 2001 census, it said.
“After discussing the matter minutely at the all political party meeting, a draft memorandum was signed by all the parties but BJP members stayed out of it. It was very disappointing for the people,” it added.
