IMPHAL, Jul 11 : Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has urged the Union Health and Family Welfare Minister to include Imphal as an examination centre for the Foreign Medical Graduates Examination (FMGE) starting from this year.
During the pandemic of COVID-19, it is not possible for the medical graduates to appear the examination outside the State. In a statement addressed to the Ministry, secretary general DESAM Leisangthem Lamyanba also mentioned that every year at least 200 (two hundred) medical graduates from the State of Manipur pass out from foreign medical colleges.
He said that the medical graduates of Manipur have to appear the FMG Examination in different parts of the country which is being conducted by Medical Council of India (MCI) every year.
However, being a low socioeconomic State, any expenditure on travel and stay outside the State by the students will be an extra burden to their poor parents, he added.
