Thang-Ta workshop concludes

IMPHAL, Jul 1: A month long workshop on "Thangbi Taranipal " conducted by Hueiyel Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association was formally drawn to a close today at the association's head office at Irilbung.
The closing ceremony was attended by Lourembam Keshorjit, secretary of Manipur State Kala Academy and K Sanathoiba, director Hueiyel Lallong Manipur Thang-Ta Cultural Association as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanathoiba expressed that people have now started to endorse "Thang-Ta'' which is an indigenous martial art-form realizing its importance and significance.
Thangbi-Taranipal is a very important component of Thang-Ta, he said while maintaining that only few hand-picked and trusted students were taught the lesson by thang-ta gurus/teachers earlier.
The workshop was however conducted breaking the earlier trend so that all get equal opportunity to learn every bit of thang-ta and ensure further dissemination of such a prestigious and significant knowledge to the coming generation.
