9 held for distributing pirated film copies

THOUBAL, Jun 9: Mobile Film Distribution Centre (MFDC), has for the second time, held 9 persons allegedly involved in supplying pirated copies of the Manipuri film " Khurai Angaobi" which was released recently.
All the individuals held in connection with the illegal activity belonged to places under the jurisdiction of Khongjam PS, Thoubal district.
Out of the nine persons, three, namely Md Sabir Khan (20), son of Md Najir Ahamed; Md Ajit (21), son of Md Rahaman; Md Ashique Khan (24), son of late Md Basiruddin were from Phundrei Sabal Leikai.
On the other hand, Sapam Rakesh Singh (25), son of late S Shyam Singh; three sons of Ningthoujam Khamba namely, Ningthoujam Suraj (29), Ningthoujam Premjit (25) and Ningthoujam Premchand Singh (20); Sapam Micheal Singh (24), son of S Jugin Singh and Tekcham Bipin Singh (25), son of T Bhorot Singh were among those apprehended from Papal Mamang Leikai.
Being disappointed and saddened, proprietor of MFDC, Heikham Jayenta expressed that film producers are struggling to make up with the losses due to such immoral and illegal production and distribution of pirated copies. Whether the film is released in DVD format or uploaded for online streaming, film production fraternity has no way out but to incur huge losses, as long as piracy and related issues are not solved, he said.
If this trend continues, Manipur film will never move forward, said Jayenta while seeking cooperation from all to help develop and preserve the beauty of Manipuri films.
He also maintained that he will seek legal help to punish those involved and those supporting the activity.
Md Ajit, who was allegedly found involved in the activity also urged all to stop piracy of films while asking to delete and destroy DVD copies/ content of the particular film
