Arms recovered
IMPHAL, Jun 14 : A combined team of Bishnupur district commandos and 13th Dogra recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition hidden at a hillside of Maibam Kabui Khul yesterday evening.
According to police, the arms and ammunition were seized acting on specific information that some unknown persons suspected to be members of Kangleipak Communist Party – Military Council (KCP-MC) had concealed the items in and around the hillside of Maibam Kabui Khul.
Based on the information, the combined team of Bishnupur commandos and two teams of 13th Dogra, under the supervision of IPS Ksh Shivakanata, Additional SP Operation Bishnupur, cordoned off the area and carried out a massive search operation, it said.
During the search operation, three packages containing one improvised explosive device (IED), two hand grenades, one carbine, one AK series gun with magazine, one 12 bore barrel gun, one .32 pistol (US made), one carbine magazine, two ICOM handheld radio sets, 100 number of 5.56 ammunition, three 7.62mm ammunition, two .32 ammunition and two carton ammunition were recovered.
The packages were kept nearby each other at an approximate distance of 50 m radius among a group of trees and heavy undergrowth, it continued while maintaining that the seized items were handed over to Nambol Police Station for further necessary legal action.
