ATSUM lauds BJP for helping stranded students

IMPHAL, Apr 5: The All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM) has expressed its profound gratitude to Manipur State BJP for the humanitarian concern shown towards the tribal students stranded in Imphal pursuing their higher studies and temporarily residing at rent, hostel etc. due to COVID-19 pandemic Nationwide lockdown.
Under the initiative of Benjamin Mate, Vice president, BJP Manipur State and Kikonbou Newmai, ex-MLA and supervised by ATSUM, 53 bags of rice and 7 bags of masoori dal were distributed to approximately 700 tribal students at four different locations in Imphal viz. Tribal Market New Lambulane, Tangkhul Avenue Community Hall, Tarung Community Hall and Adimjati ST/SC Boys Hostel Chingmeirong yesterday, said a statement of ATSUM
The initiative undertaken by BJP party cutting across party lines at this crucial juncture is highly commendably and wishes others to follow suit, added the statement.
It also said, "We are living in a difficult time and as such, it is incumbent on the part of all citizens of Manipur to come together and join in the fight against this pandemic, COVID 19, wherever we are or whatever we might profess, either through benevolence or by obeying the strictures and guidelines imposed by the Government and to pray for those who are in the forefront of the fight."
Stating that the State Government led by the Chief Minister N Biren Singh, all the rank and files of various departments and the police department have done a tremendous job in the fight for the containment of this dreaded virus, ATSUM continued that it is heartening to note that elected representatives cutting across party lines are painstakingly working day in and day out so that no citizen is left out.
Social workers, entrepreneurs, NGO’s and individual benefactors who are assiduously toiling towards the collective fight also deserve our fulsome praise and appreciation, it said.
"To all the health workers viz. doctors, nurses, paramedics and their auxiliary workforces who are directly in the battlefront against the fight of COVID 19, we doff our hat in profound gratitude for the yeoman services you have undertaken in this trying moments. And we thank you for the selfless sacrifices you have done for all of us," ATSUM lamented.
